About the area
Situated in an elevated position and commanding
spectacular views over the Derwent Valley these
19th century stone cottages are tastefully equipped
and furnished accommodations of the very highest
standard in a secluded and peaceful setting being
positioned off road along private tracks.
Holiday makers have access to the surrounding
land which includes 900 acres of private woodland
with forest paths. This is not only an excellent
location for walkers but also provides a good base
for touring this scenic area.
Weardale, Teesedale and the northernmost
Yorkshire Dales are within easy reach whilst 11
miles to the north the market town of Hexham with
it's notable Abbey is the gateway to Hadrian's Wall
country. The ancient estate village of Blanchland,
once owned by Lord Crewe is 2 miles, a monastery
was established here in 1175, the monks wore white
habits and it is probable that from them the
district received it's name of Blanchland or
Whiteland.
The Cathedral City of Durham is 20 miles, Newcastle and the Metro
Centre a similar distance and the award winning open air museum
at Beamish is 15 miles.The Derwent Reservoir with watersport facilities
is close by. Championship golf course is approx. 5 miles away.
